Introducing the New Global R&D Science and Innovation Centre, Shanghai, China 2026
As part of our commitment to designing and delivering superior product solutions for the Chinese market, we are investing in a new Global R&D Science and Innovation Centre in Shanghai. The Centre aims to expand our local capability to further leverage our existing success in China, while also scaling selected blueprint innovations globally to benefit consumers worldwide.
Last week, we celebrated this with a momentous groundbreaking ceremony with Minhang District government officials, and the British Consul-General in Shanghai, marking the start of construction for the Centre, which is planned to open in 2026.
The future R&D Centre will be joining our existing suite of science and innovation centres globally. Occupying more than 8000 m2, it will be one of Reckitt’s largest site investments in Asia. The Centre will be equipped with world-class R&D facilities, cutting-edge digital systems, and AI technology. It will serve as an important platform to attract top talent and to provide comprehensive end-to-end R&D capabilities. It will also support the development of all core Reckitt brands in China, including Durex, Dettol, Move Free and Finish, to offer more locally developed products, tailored to meet the unique health and hygiene needs of Chinese consumers.
