Donation of Dettol products supports Malaysia’s response to COVID-19 pandemic
We have given 386,500 units of Dettol hand sanitiser to the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) to support its efforts to address the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
The hand sanitisers, worth over £500,000, will be distributed by MRCS to vaccination centres, government hospitals, community clinics and care homes; as well as directly to vulnerable residents and those living in rural communities.
The donation is part of our global partnership in the Disaster Relief Alliance with the British Red Cross and is the latest and largest of a series of donations by Reckitt Malaysia in support of local communities since the start of the pandemic.
“This crisis needs significant humanitarian efforts, and we are pleased to partner with the Malaysian Red Crescent Society to continue the efforts. This donation campaign is part of our fight to maximise access to essential hygiene products which are integral in this battle against COVID-19, instil good hygiene habits among Malaysians, and drive public awareness of the importance of keeping oneself protected even post-vaccination.”
The products were presented to MRCS National Chairperson, Her Highness Dato’ Seri DiRaja Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz binti Almarhum Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah, Tunku Temenggong Kedah at a ceremony earlier this week.
“Considering the escalating numbers in COVID-19 infection, it has become our personal responsibility to heighten general hygiene and cleanliness practices, especially in homes and workplaces where we spend most of our time these days.
“I am confident that the donated products will go a long way in meeting our community outreach objectives, helpful in preventing virus infection amongst individuals and vulnerable communities.”
“This pandemic is an unprecedented crisis not only in Malaysia, but across the world”, said Datuk Dr Mohamed Alwi Abdul Rahman, Co- Commander for the Joint Task Force and MRCS Governing Board Member who was present at the handover event.
“Practicing personal hygiene such as handwashing and using hand sanitizers are the first line of defence towards protecting yourself against the spread of diseases and infections. Thank you to Reckitt and MRCS for doing your part to improve the health of Malaysians by promoting this important habit of hand hygiene.”
The ceremony was also attended by the British High Commissioner to Malaysia, His Excellency Charles Hay.
